Directions and parking
  1. Find your gear

Browse our rental site by category, or start from a guide: video cameras, lenses, drones, speakers and PA or projectors. Each item has its own page with the day rate and what comes in the kit.

    • Not sure what you need? Call 778-244-4333 and tell us about the shoot.
    • Some items have setup walkthroughs on our item guides page.
  2. Pick your dates and book

Choose your pickup and return dates. The booking page shows what is available for those dates and the price for the whole rental, then you check out with a credit card. That makes a reservation. Your card is not charged until you pick the gear up.

    • Cancelling more than 24 hours before pickup is free. Inside 24 hours, 20% of the order is charged.
    • Need to change something after you book? Call or email us and we will adjust the order.
  3. Pick up in Port Kells

Come to Unit 3, 19089 94th Avenue in Surrey, Monday to Friday between 9 am and 5 pm. Bring your photo ID and the credit card you booked with. We go through the order with you at the counter, so you can check that everything is there and powers on before you leave.

    • First rental with us? You sign our rental agreement at the counter. It takes a few minutes, and you can read it here beforehand.
    • Need to come in earlier or later? Ask when you book. We can often arrange it, but we have to confirm the time first.
  4. Shoot

The gear is your responsibility from pickup until it is back with us. If something is missing, faulty or already damaged, tell us within 24 hours of pickup. If a fault is not your doing, we replace the item where we can or credit you for the time you lost.

    • Problem on set? Call 778-244-4333.
    • Gear stays in British Columbia unless we have agreed otherwise in writing.
  5. Bring it back

Return everything on the date you booked, during opening hours. We check it in and inspect it, and that closes the order. Pack it the way it left, and give it a wipe if it saw dust or rain: our cleaning and care guidelines explain when a cleaning fee applies.

    • Running late? Call before your return date. Each extra day is charged at the daily rate.
    • Can only return on a weekend? Talk to us first and we will give you a drop-off option.

Pickup checklist

What to bring to pick up your rental

No ID, no gear. We have to see the original at the counter, every time someone new picks up.

  • Every rental

Government photo ID in your name

A BC driver’s licence, BCID, Indigenous status card or permanent resident card. We scan it once and keep it on file until it expires.

Photos, copies, digital ID, expired ID and student cards don’t count. With a passport or temporary paper ID, call us first: it needs a manager’s OK and proof of your address.

  • Every rental

A credit card in your name

It stays on file for the rental. You can pay with it, another credit card, e-transfer or exact cash. We don’t take debit or cheques.

No credit card? Call us before you book, since a cash or e-transfer deposit can sometimes stand in for one.

  • Over $6,000 of gear

    Your insurance certificate

It has to cover the rented gear for the whole rental, name Everything Film Equipment as loss payee on that cover, and as additional insured on your liability cover.

Our FAQ has a discount code for short-term cover from FrontRow Insurance.

Someone else picking up? Tell us ahead of time. They bring their own ID and sign their own rental agreement. Details are on our authorized pickup person page.

Paying

How pricing and payment work

  • You pay at pickup

Booking reserves the gear. The charge goes through when the order goes out the door.

  • Longer rentals cost less per day

The booking page works out the total for your dates, so you see the price before you check out.

  • Weekends bill as one day

We’re closed Saturday and Sunday. Pick up Friday from noon, return Monday by noon, and you pay the one-day rate. A Friday morning pickup or Monday afternoon return is a normal three-day rental.

  • A security hold on bigger orders

With $5,000 or more in gear, we place a hold on your card at pickup. It’s an authorization, not a charge, and it comes off once the gear is back, checked and anything owing is settled. Most orders don’t need one.

“I wanna rent a lens & couple more things just for a day, but it was weekend so they didn’t charge me for rest of the days. Lens was with me for almost 3 days.”

Who you’re renting from

We shoot with this gear too

The people behind the counter are working photographers and videographers. Our production company, Dream It Creations, and our studio, Everything Film Studios, share the building. Every item is checked and tested before it goes out and again when it comes back, and if you’re unsure what suits a shoot, ask. You’ll get an answer from someone who has used it on a job.

“Equipment is in great shape with great camera and lens packages available. Pricing is affordable.”

Questions

Renting with EFE: common questions

Policies in full are in our FAQ and rental agreement.

How do I rent camera gear from Everything Film Equipment?

Book online at our rental site, pick the gear up at our shop in Port Kells, Surrey, Monday to Friday from 9 am to 5 pm, and bring it back on the date you booked. You need government photo ID and a credit card in your name. Nothing is charged until pickup.

What do I need to bring when I pick up?

Original government photo ID in your name, such as a BC driver's licence or BCID, and the credit card you booked with. First-time renters also sign our rental agreement at the counter. If the gear is worth more than $6,000, bring your insurance certificate too.

When is my card charged?

At pickup. Booking online reserves the gear, and the charge goes through when the order goes out. On orders with $5,000 or more in gear, we also place a security hold on your card at pickup. It is an authorization, not a charge, and it comes off once the gear is back and checked.

Do I need insurance or a deposit?

Most orders need no deposit when you have a credit card on file. Insurance is required once the gear on an order is worth more than $6,000. We partner with FrontRow Insurance for short-term production cover, and our FAQ has the discount code.

Can someone else pick up my order?

Yes. Let us know ahead of time by phone or email. The person collecting it shows their own ID and signs their own rental agreement. See our authorized pickup person agreement.

Can I rent if I'm under 19?

Yes, with a parent or guardian at pickup. They sign the rental agreement, show their own government photo ID and put their credit card on file.

Can I pick up or return on a weekend?

We are closed Saturday and Sunday. Pick up on Friday from noon and return on Monday by noon, and you pay the one-day rate. If you can only return on a weekend, talk to us first and we will arrange a drop-off.

What happens if I return gear late?

Each extra day is charged at the daily rate. Call us before your return date and we will sort it out. Gear more than 7 days overdue, where we have not been able to reach you, is treated as unlawfully retained.

Do you deliver?

Yes, by request and for an extra fee, anywhere in Metro Vancouver, subject to approval. Ask when you book.
