Lens advice
Which lens should you rent?
Start with the shoot, not the spec sheet. These are the lenses we would reach for on each kind of job, with the day rate beside each one.
Interviews and talking heads
An 85mm or 50mm prime, shot wide open. At interview distance it flatters faces and throws the background soft, so an ordinary office still looks intentional.
Weddings and events
A 24-70mm f/2.8 on one camera and a 70-200mm f/2.8 on the other covers the ceremony wide and the candids tight, with no lens change at the wrong moment. For dark receptions, the Canon RF 28-70mm F2 gathers a full stop more light than an f/2.8 zoom.
Documentary and run-and-gun
A stabilised 24-105mm f/4 zoom. It is wide enough for a room, long enough for a face across the table, and it can stay on the camera all day.
Short films and music videos
Matched cinema primes keep focus pulls and colour consistent from shot to shot. The DZOFilm Vespid2 kit gives you six T1.9 focal lengths from 18 to 105mm, and the Rokinon Cine DS kit is the budget route at T1.5. For a widescreen look with oval bokeh and horizontal flares, add a Blazar Remus anamorphic.
Real estate and architecture
An ultra-wide zoom keeps rooms from feeling cramped. Level the camera and the verticals stay straight.
Sports and wildlife
Reach. The Sony 100-400mm GM covers field sports from the sideline, and the Sigma 150-600mm gets you to birds and the far end of the field.
Adapters
Lens doesn't fit your camera? Rent an adapter.
An adapter opens up the rest of the shelf. Autofocus through one depends on the lens and body pairing, so if autofocus matters, test the combination in store before your shoot. Why it only works one way for Canon: Canon RF vs EF lenses explained.
EF to RF autofocus adapterCanon EF lenses on Canon RF bodies like the EOS R5 and R6 Mark II, with autofocus. $10 / day
EF to Sony E-mount adapterCanon EF glass on Sony mirrorless and cinema cameras. $5 / day
DZOFilm Octopus PL to Sony E-mount adapterPL cine primes such as the Vespid2 and Blazar Remus on Sony E cameras like the FX6. $20 / day

Reserve your dates
Pick your dates on our rental site and check out. Nothing is charged until pickup. Orders with $5,000 or more of gear need a security hold on your card, and a deposit only if the card can’t take it.
Pick up in Port Kells
Monday to Friday, 9 am to 5 pm, at Unit 3, 19089 94th Avenue in Surrey. Bring government photo ID, such as a BC driver's licence or BCID. First-time renters sign our rental agreement at the counter.
Bring it back
Return on the date you booked. We're closed weekends, so a Friday pickup with a Monday return is billed as a single day.
How much does it cost to rent a camera lens?
Our lenses rent from $15 a day for a Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 up to $60 a day for fast pro glass like the Sony FE 28-70mm F2 GM, the Sony 70-200mm GM II and the Canon RF 85mm F1.2. Cinema sets cost more: the six-lens DZOFilm Vespid2 kit is $225 a day.
Longer rentals cost less per day, and your booking page shows the exact price for your dates.
Can I rent a lens for the weekend?
Yes. We are closed Saturday and Sunday, so pick up on Friday and return on Monday and you pay the one-day rate.
Will the lens fit my camera?
Match the lens mount to your camera: Sony E for Sony mirrorless and FX cameras, Canon RF for Canon mirrorless, Canon EF for Canon DSLRs. If they do not match, an adapter often solves it. EF lenses adapt to RF and Sony E bodies, but RF lenses cannot be mounted on EF cameras. Not sure? Call us with your camera model and we will tell you what fits.
Can I try a lens before I rent it?
Yes. Come by during business hours and test it on your own camera, subject to availability. It is worth doing with adapted lenses, where autofocus depends on the exact pairing.
Do I need insurance or a deposit?
Most orders just need a credit card on file. From $5,000 of gear, we place a security hold on your card at pickup, and take a deposit only if the card can’t take it. Insurance is required once the gear on an order is worth more than $6,000. We partner with FrontRow Insurance for short-term production cover, and our FAQ has the discount code.
Do you deliver?
Yes, by request and for an extra fee, anywhere in Metro Vancouver, subject to approval. Ask when you book.
