Damage Waiver
Optional Damage Waiver
Available at checkout or upon pickup.
EFE offers customers an optional Damage Waiver. For 10% of your rental total, accidental damage to the gear from normal use is covered up to $750 per incident.
If equipment is accidentally damaged during normal use, EFE won’t pursue you for it, up to $750 per incident. This is a waiver, not insurance — it doesn’t cover loss, theft, non-return, unattended-vehicle or unsecured-location damage, water/sand damage, intentional damage, or unauthorized use. Declining does not reduce your responsibility for the equipment. Full terms in our Rental Policy.
Damage Waiver FAQs
What is the Damage Waiver?
An optional add-on for your rental. For 10% of your rental total, EFE agrees in advance not to charge you for accidental damage to the gear during normal use, up to $750 per incident.
Is the Damage Waiver insurance?
No. It’s a waiver, not insurance — EFE agreeing ahead of time to cover accidental damage, up to the $750 limit. It’s not a substitute for your own insurance if you carry it, and it doesn’t apply to everything a full policy would.
What does the waiver apply to?
Accidental damage from normal, on-the-job use. A dropped lens, a cracked filter, that kind of thing.
What doesn't the waiver apply to?
- Theft, including gear stolen from a vehicle
- Water or rain damage
- Sand, dirt, or corrosion getting into the gear
- Gear that’s lost or not returned
- Damage caused by someone using the gear who wasn’t listed on the order
What if the repair costs more than $750?
The waiver applies to the first $750 of an accidental repair. You’re responsible for the remaining balance.
Why isn't it just included in every rental?
It’s optional so you’re not paying for something you don’t need. A lot of production companies already carry their own equipment insurance that goes further than our waiver does.
Can I add the Damage Waiver after I've already picked up the gear?
No. It has to be selected at checkout or at the counter, before the gear leaves. It can’t be added once something’s already happened.
If no damage occurs, is the 10% fee refundable?
No, our damage waiver fee is nonrefundable.
